Symptoms of Joint Pain

There are various signs and symptoms of arthritis and joint pain and it differs from person to person. The first main reason is the pain that is caused; people having arthritis suffer from severe joint pain due to the destructive and degenerative process where the cartilage degeneration and bone friction causes acute pain;  inflammation of tissues around joints and accumulation of fluids and uric acid crystals in between the joints also leads to pain.  The primary symptom of arthritis is swelling where the amount of fluid increases to abnormal proportions which makes the joint swollen.

Stiffness or inflexibility at the joint is a symptom associated with swelling. Muscle tightness, inflammation of joint lining causes stiffness and inflexibility of the joint wherein the joints can become nonfunctional and if not checked it can even lead to disability.

Sometimes an ailing joint make certain sounds like crunching or grating which is another common symptom of arthritis.  This is called Crepitus where it indicates wearing out of cartilages in a joint and is normally painless.  Deformity is another symptom where there are outgrown bones, bending of finger base, etc. Redness of skin around the affected joint is also one of the signs of symptoms of arthritis.  People suffering from arthritis can also suffer from colitis or constipation.
