Signs and Symptoms of Arthritis and Joint Pain
The first and foremost sign of arthritis is pain and
all arthritic patients suffer from severe joint pain. The cartilage degeneration and bone friction,
inflammation of tissues around joints and accumulation of fluids and uric acid
crystals in between the joints causes acute pain.
Another primary sign is swelling. The amount of fluid increases to abnormal
proportions making the joint look swollen.
Inflammation of joint, Stiffness or inflexibility at
the joint, muscle tightness is also some of the factors. Stiffness usually increases if the ailing
joint is left idle for a long time and it normally occurs early in the morning
and it gradually comes down as one gets into activities. Hence stiffness should
be checked on time as it can lead to disability.
The skin around affected joint turns red and this is
also one of the signs of arthritis. Many
arthritic patients suffer from constipation or colitis.
